RIP Jun Seba - a.k.a. Nujabes.
Many of you may know that, late last month, the Japanese musician Nujabes (born Jun Seba) passed away. For those that don’t know who Nujabes was, he was a well-known Japanese hip-hop producer that made some of the most-loved indie hip-hop music in the entire world; his work could be heard on his album and single releases or in the anime, Samurai Champloo. I am officially booked for a gig. It will be my first paid, non-convention show.
Don’t get me wrong, I love playing conventions, but they are all volunteer, and it feels nice to get to play somewhere with a liquor license (i.e. people don’t have to LEAVE THE ROOM to drink, like they do at most conventions! Benefit: a more captive audience).

Twitter DJ is an application developed by Richie Hawtin and Minus that tweets tracks being played in Traktor (Mac only). One purpose? Making sure that royalties organizations who ‘pay artists’ for clubplay ACTUALLY pay the right artists, and not just ‘the most popular’ ones. Interesting idea, and one I wholly suport!
